We are Agua Caliente Tribe of Cupeno Indians Inc. Nonprofit, a Tax Deductible Nonprofit 501 (c) 3 for the Agua Caliente Tribe of Cupeno Indians.
Originally from Warner’s Hot-Springs CA, the Agua Caliente Tribe of Cupeno Indians (ACTCI) have always been proud people with strong beliefs in respecting tribal ways and upholding tribal values. They lived a peaceful existence on their ancestral ground. They faced many devastations once outsiders found their land. They survived the settlers, Mexican Military control, US Military Control, the California Gold Rush, and so much more, just to be forced off their land by the US Government in 1903 and made to walk 40 miles to a Mission and become a new Reservation, right next to an already inhabited, Reservation.
From that point on, the Federal Government has treated this Tribe like it no longer exists. For years, the ACTCI has been in a battle with the Federal Government over Federal Recognition. In result of this, the Tribe is at risk of losing their history, their culture, their traditions, and their language. It is imperative to protect and preserve the Agua Caliente Tribe of Cupeno Indians. The Cupeno People must keep their history alive; not just for them but for the State of California, they are a very important part of California’s Indigenous History. See Our History at Cupenotribe.com.
Without Current Federal Recognition the Tribe and the Tribal members do not receive any federal services of any kind including all venues of health care, educational aid, commodities, and housing. With the help of Grants, Donations, and Fundraisers, our Nonprofit is here to support the Tribe in keeping it a healthy thriving native community by respecting the ancestors, preserving the traditions, protecting the culture, and educating the youth.
Board members, volunteers, and staff will adhere to the Tribe’s indigenous sets of values of honor, respect, honesty, and integrity. Board Members shall always exercise the highest standard of ethics and practice fundamental honesty. They will exercise whatever discretionary authority they have under the law to carry out the mission of the Tribe. They will serve with respect, courtesy, concern, and responsiveness.
Board members will not deceive, defraud, misrepresent, or mislead. Board members will never divulge or release any information of a proprietary nature relating to ACTCI INC plans, mission, or operational database without appropriate approval. Board Members will never engage in unethical business practices of any type, nor will they violate any applicable laws or ordinances.
